7th Place in 4:07:10! After an eventful week of moving from one apartment to Jim and Mary Campbell's house, working all week and getting everything ready for the trip to New Hampshire it was a relief to get this race under my belt and with such success. In doing so I was able to get some good points for the 70.3 PR for 2014 World Championships as well in Mont Tremblant.
We were fortunate enough to be able to stay at the Dix Family Lake house on Webster lake again like last year....and Mike Hoffman was able to race again as well!
Race weekend gave us GREAT weather as it was low 60s at night and low 80s during the day.
When the race started I was able to get onto some feet...one guy was moving just a little faster than me so I knew I needed to stay on him. He was doing a great job sighting and moving a long just nicely. I was able to stay on him throughout the whole swim and came out shocked to see I swam a 27:32! That is over 2 and half mins faster than last year! I came out of the water in 10th out of 15 and felt ready to go on the bike.
I was able to get moving pretty well ...at around mile 10 I hit a bump and ended up losing 2 of my Powerbar Energy Gels, leaving me with one more. Fortunately they had enough water stops that I was able to get enough calories into me from the Powerbar Ironman Perform. After not seeing one single rider from mile 6 till T2... I did end up riding 3 mins faster than last year with a 2:17:26. After that I was in 9th place as I passed one on the ride the first few miles.
Thanks to Jim and Mary for letting us stay with them till our house gets built! And yes they are excited to deal with all my triathlon equipment, smells and early hours!
